Sqish is a creative nonprofit that empowers kids and young minds to explore who they are through art, storytelling, and emerging technology.
In a world that often narrows possibilities, we help them stay open to their creativity, to new tools, and to the belief that they have something to say. Through hands-on workshops and guided exploration, Sqish encourages personal expression, teaches creative confidence, and shows kids what they’re truly capable of.
Sqish exists to ensure that kid, especially in the critical middle school years, have access to inspiring spaces, real creative tools, and skilled mentors.
We believe that when young people are given the chance to explore their creativity, they build the confidence, curiosity, and resilience they need to shape their own future.
Our mission is simple: Keep imagination alive and help young people build something real with it.
Sqish has been in the back of my mind for over 20 years — a quiet idea that never let go.
I started it because I believe there’s a purity in kids' imagination that slowly gets buried by life. School tells them what to memorize. Society tells them who to become. The world hands them a checklist: go to college, get a job, pay your taxes, keep your lawn trimmed. Somewhere along the way, that creative spark dims.
But what if it didn’t?
What if kids had a space to stay connected to their imagination — to experiment, express, and dream without being graded or corrected? I believe that space creates confident humans. Free thinkers. The kind of people who imagine new ways of living, working, and being.
Sqish is for the kid who thinks outside the margins. Who sees stories in the clouds. Who hasn’t yet been told “you’re not good at that.” We’re here to protect that spark and give it room to grow.
This matters because the future needs people who can imagine something different.
Building Sqish
Sqish is still in its early days, but the foundation is in motion. Right now, we’re a small, grassroots nonprofit with big plans: the paperwork is filed, the board is forming, and the first pilot workshops are in development. We’re building partnerships, assembling materials, and getting ready to launch our first programs in Detroit with the goal of reaching more communities over time. Your donation doesn’t just support an idea. It helps turn a lifelong vision into a real, working space where kids can create, explore, and grow.
